Recently, BYD DOLPHIN and BYD SEAL have received a five-star safety rating from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) under the latest ANCAP testing criteria.
BYD SEAL and BYD DOLPHIN have been awarded five-star ANCAP safety ratings
ANCAP, Australia and New Zealand's independent voice on vehicle safety, has expanded its testing criteria in 2023. To obtain a five-star safety rating, vehicles must attain the highest standards in all tests and feature advanced safety assist technologies.
BYD SEAL
According to an ANCAP report, the BYD SEAL received full marks for protecting the driver in the oblique pole test and the child passengers in the side impact test. It scored 89 percent for adult occupant protection, 87 percent for child occupant protection, 82 percent for vulnerable road user protection, and 75 percent for safety assistance. These results demonstrate BYD's steadfast commitment to safety.
BYD DOLPHIN
The BYD DOLPHIN scored maximum points for protecting child occupants during both frontal and side-impact tests. Additionally, the BYD DOLPHIN even achieved a score of 85% for the protection of vulnerable road users, marking the highest score among all models tested in 2023.
The AEB Head-On system of these two models showed adequate performance. Meanwhile, they also have a “door opening” functionality, a feature the new ANCAP criteria assesses. The technology allows doors to remain unlocked for two minutes when the car enters a body of water.
Carla Hoorweg, ANCAP's Chief Executive Officer, expressed her contentment with the performance of BYD models: "Our 2023 test and rating criteria have introduced further requirements for high levels of structural protection as well as new challenges for manufacturers in the area of active safety systems and, pleasingly, the three models rated so far this year have each achieved five-star ratings."
Earlier, the BYD SEAL and BYD DOLPHIN also secured five-star safety ratings from Euro NCAP. Looking forward, BYD will remain committed to strict safety standards, leveraging cutting-edge technologies, such as the e-Platform 3.0 and advanced driver-assistance systems to ensure safe travel for our global customers.
